Religion.
I don't hate religion because I understand what true religion is.
The world hates Religion I believe this is because the world does not know what true religion is.
The Bible says that true religion un-defiled and acceptable before God is looking after widows and orphans in their affliction and remaining unpolluted from the world.
I wonder whether our church leaders should say "God hates defiled religion, polluted by the world."
There is a lot of defiled religion and pollution in the world and I hate this but I can't say as a Christian I hate all religion because true religion is acceptable to God.
Jesus described coming to him and drinking living water, polluted religion would be like drink the water in the above picture.
The best way to avoid polluted religious water is to know Jesus by being acquainted with him in his word. Knowing the word allows you to discern what is from God and what is not the difference and how to remove pollution.
There's a sense that 'religion' is also doing something over and over again, I think - probably to impress whichever god you would like to impress. I think this might be how most people view religion, and us as Christians, in a lot of people's minds, deludedly following an ok book through a lifetime of polite misery.
ReplyDeleteI'm keen to make a difference to the world though. So, what would you do to show that following Jesus is way more about relationship than it is about ritual?
Like most authors they have books and we get to know our author by what he has to say in his book. I agree that as Christians the basis our faith is routed in relationship with the Living God this is not limited to just the book but the book is a plum line to help us discern what is or isn't God. I believe the starting place for our relationship is getting to know him by his book, the book says he is limited only by his word (which may sound like an oxymoron). So his book helps us to recognize his voice because it reveals his word in recorded accounts of his relationship with the first people, Patriarchs, lawgivers, judges, prophets, Seers and apostles. Religion is supposed to make a difference it should win people with love and not with argument. I have come to know that the reason that i wasn't winning people was because I trying to win people by winning the argument.
ReplyDeleteI believe the most important thing that we do to show we are following Jesus other than what we do in secret (prayer and study); is loving people. Hence looking after widows and orphans and not getting polluted by the world. This also depends on the revelation we have from the scripture James 1:27. I agree that we don't see any vain repetition in, dressing up in funny "special" clothes, nor hail Mary's and idolatry in James 1:27
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
